Background:
The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) has been building capacity and scaling up HIV/ AIDS services in KCC Health Centres for 4 years now. As part of comprehensive male sexual health services, IDI is introducing Safe male circumcision (SMC) in two KCC clinics ( Namuwongo and Kawempe) through an initiative branded "AMAKA-Adult Male Medical Circumcision in Kampala" This scale up is going to run for a period of one year and will be integrated into other HIV prevention services already being done at facilities. IDI is therefore seeking to recruit suitable people to fill the following job positions:

POST: NURSES (4)
Will be required to assist the clinical officer when carrying out circumcision and to provide quality nursing care to clients coming for circumcision. He/ she must treat each client with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assists clinical officers in carrying out circumcisions
• Provides nursing care to clients attending the clinic
• Assesses clinical patient problems and triages patient under the advice of a clinical officer
• Cleaning, disinfecting and packing surgical instruments
• To treat each client with dignity, respect and understanding in accordance with IDI's philosophy
• Maintain nursing records according to mandatory legal requirements ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times
• Ensure procedures are carried out safely in accordance with agreed policies
• Participates as a full member of the IDI-KCC care team by communicating effectively and liaising with other members of the interdisciplinary team

Job requirement

Education Requirements:
• Completion of Nurses Training from a recognized education institution
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in a clinical setting
• Additional training in HIV/AIDS
• Experience of working in a theatre setting is an added advantage

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• Ability to communicate with clients In local language
• Knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS related issues
• Knowledge of good nursing procedures and practices
• Ability for team work
• Willingness to work extra hours
