Finance officer

Duties and Responsibilities:
The chosen person has responsibility to ensure adherence to quality financial stewardship, internal controls and promotion of good Financial Management practice and compliance within Trocaire and with partners.

These duties will include -
1. Partner Capacity Building
* Supporting partner organizations on financial management and development of sound accounting procedures
* Conduct regular system audits of partners to ensure that their processes, systems and
procedures are capable of providing
comprehensive and accurate financial reports.
* Build capacity of partner finance functions
through structured and unstructured capacity
building sessions as the need may arise.
* Review financial reports provided by partners toassess their accuracy and adequacy before further disbursements are made.
* Regularly visit partners alongside Programme Officers to verify Trócaire/donor compliance,eligibility of the expenses and to ensure that they have the capacity to prepare the donor reports in accurate and timely manner.
* Lead a process conducted at country level to appraise partner financial controls and systems with a view to enhancing the partner capacity and ensuring proper stewardship of Trócaire funds.
2. Financial Management & reports
* Ensuring donor and organizational
requirements, policies & procedures are met
across the country programmes
* Preparation of timely and accurate financial
donor reports that have a clear link with narrative reports
* Prepare monthly reports for submission to the Regional Office
* Compilation of the monthly management account reports in the prescribed formats– for the internal use by management.
* Work with project officers and admin staff to ensure that financial procedures are adhered to and all costs are fully supported by documentary evidence.
* In liaison with the Country Rep and Office
Secretary, help in addressing critical findings
identified during audits and financial reviews.

Terms and conditions for this position
A Salary package and benefits will be offered on the Trócaire Uganda scales depending on work experience and qualifications. The initial contract will be one year with the possibility of renewal.

Requirement: Requirements
* Possession of a Bachelors degree
as a minimum in addition to professional
accountancy or audit qualifications.
* Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role (and especially in a role where working with partners was a core responsibility)
* Experience of institutional donor
requirements.
* Excellent knowledge of quick books or similar Accounting /Finance Management
Software
* Strong analytical skills
* Ability to prepare concise, informative presentations and financial reports

* Strong organizational skills, with an
