Marie Stopes InternationalMarie Slopes Uganda (MSU) is a marketing-focused, results-oriented social business that uses modem management and marketing techniques to provide family planning and reproductive healthcare across every district of Uganda. We aim to contribute 15 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate by 2015, saving and improving many thousands of Ugandan lives. MSU has 25% of the market share in modem contraceptives and, in 2010/2011, safely delivered 50,000 babies and contributed 4 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate. MSU has enjoyed 20% year on year growth since 2007. MSU is part of a global network, Marie Stopes International (MSI), and subscribes to MSI goal and mission, to prevent unwanted births and to ensure individual’s rights to Children by Choice not Chance.


Job Title: Centre Manager.
Location: Any District in Uganda.
Reporting To: Regional Manager – Centres.
Duration of Contract: Two Years.

Marie Stopes Uganda has over 14 Clinical Centres across the country that are operated using a Social Enterprise Business Model. By implication, Marie Stopes Uganda Centres are operated by raising income that fully pays for all Its costs, while, maintaining the objective of providing affordable healthcare services, especially family planning services.

The purpose of the Centre Manager (CM) role is to lead/manage the Centre to sustainability, while maintaining the philosophy of affordable high quality services. The CM will be required to have business skills as the Business Manager and leader of the centre, ensuring that modem business practices are implemented, to enhance productivity and sustainability. The CM will be required to analyse and implement a relevant service mix, implement performance based incentives for team members, maintain 9 highly motivated team, ensure a high level of client satisfaction and/ultimately achieve full sustainability of the Centre.

The CM will ensure that all the activities relating to the Centre are well managed in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures, Business Model, contractual targets and budgets. The key deliverable will be 1o ensure that the Centres is fully sustainable, contribute significant family planning numbers (according to set projections) and adhere to MSI Medical Development Team guidelines, are well supervised, monitored and have proper documentation.

The CM will be required to have a robust understanding of business management and is expected to ensure that the centre team gets engrained in the same mindset and are able to demonstrate it. He/she is expected to have excellent skill in transforming businesses in record time.

Key Responsibilities

Managing the Centre sustainably as a social enterprise.
Ensure that the Centre upholds the highest Clinical Standards and Client Care with support from the Medical Advisory Team.
Provide Leadership and Development to the Centre.
Ensure that relevant systems/policies are in place and are adhered to by the centre team.
Regularly collaborate with key stakeholders in the District.
Represent Marie Stopes Uganda in relevant external relations forums.
Requirement:
Qualifications

University Degree or its equivalent (a business related Degree is an added advantage).
Courses relating to business management, customer care, service Marketing, general Management.
Knowledge and experience in the health Sector is an added advantage.
Fluent English both oral and written.
Experience

At least 3 years of experience running a business.
Skills

Excellent oral and writing abilities.

Good team player.
Able to think strategically.
Good planner.
Able to manage and motivate teams to achieve targets.
