Job Purpose: Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Assistant and the overall supervision of the Logistics Officer – Strategic Fleet, the incumbent will be responsible for servicing WFP fleet and will be required to undertake the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventive maintenance, servicing, inspections and repair of WFP vehicles, including motorcycles, generators and related equipment;
Assist in checking vehicles or generators for mechanical fitness and in performing major repairs; Use computerised shop equipment;
Recover and maintain broken down vehicles/generator using proper techniques to minimise the risk of additional damage and accident;
Report on works carried out, including the consumption of spare parts, lubricants, and other items used in the repair of vehicles/generators including time starting and completion of work; Report any workmanship failure that occurred during repairs;
Perform welding and panel beating activities; Assist in installing and maintaining sophisticated equipment on WFP vehicles such as VHS, radios, satellite tracking systems, etc;
Keep in a good order all repair tools and equipment; Perform other related duties as required
Requirement:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma/Secondary school education, supplemented by vocational training programme in automotives service technology or relevant mechanical/technical trainings gained from a recognized institution;
At least two (2) years experience in commercial and light vehicle repair that includes mechanical, electronics or panel beating gained from a reputable organization; Valid and clean driver’s license for commercial and light vehicles is a requirement;
Good reading, mathematics, and computer skills to use and study technical manuals;
Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how vehicles work and how various parts of the vehicle interact with each other; Knowledge of driving rules and regulations; Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, radio, email, internet and other applications; Good knowledge and skills in using MS Office applications; Excellent command of English is vital;
