Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is a corporate body responsible for regulation of Civil Aviation in Uganda. It manages Entebbe International Airport (EIA) and thirteen (13) other aerodromes upcountry. CAA carries out its work in conformity with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). The Authority now plans to recruit suitably qualified Ugandans of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the following positions in its establishment as detailed below:-

JOB TITLE : Airworthiness lnspector-(Airframes and
Powerplant)
REPORTS TO : Principal Airworthiness Inspector-
(Airframes and Powerplant)

Vacancies : 1
Age: Between 30 to 45 years
Remuneration: CAA Salary Grade 10

PURPOSE:
Team participation within the section, ensuring that Directorate and Departmental operational safety standards are maintained, and where possible, improved.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Participate in the survey of aircraft for renewal of Certificates of Airworthiness.
• Participate in the development and review of related airworthiness technical guidance material.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of records of related airworthiness directives.
• Participate in the development of examination packs for pilots (TTRs), flight engineers and maintenance Engineers (Airframes and Powerplant).
• Participate in the preparation and conduct of written and oral exams leading to the grant, issue, extension and validation of aircraft maintenance engineers' licenses and pilots' ratings.
• Participate in the renewal and variation certification processes for continuing certificate holder organisations.
• Periodic review of safety oversight on the airworthiness status of aircraft.
• Assess and monitor organisations and individuals within the civil aviation industry, on all aspects relating to the section's work, ensuring that they have sufficient controls, staff and standards in place to ensure safety in their operations.
• Ensure that appropriate levels of safety are likely to be achieved by demonstrated compliance with the defined regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and act on continued airworthiness information from in-service aircraft, ensuring that any aspects relating to the operation or maintenance standards of an aircraft are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
• Assess adequacy of maintenance, competence, and diligence of persons and organizations performing aircraft maintenance.
• Any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Job requirement

EDUCATION:
• A B.Sc. graduate or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or

Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline

EXPERIENCE:
The job holder will have at least 5 years working experience in the aviation industry, progressing to the attainment of certifying staff status. In addition, the job holder will have well-developed interpersonal skills.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• ICAO, IATA and national regulatory requirements in airworthiness and procedures.
• Aircraft maintenance engineer's license in the mechanical discipline (Airframes and Powerplant) categories with type-ratings
