Farmer Institutions Capacity Building

Location: Mbale

Reports to: Executive Director

Purpose:
Coordinate and facilitate Farmer institution capacity needs assessments including development of farmer capacity building plans, implementation and Support to Farmer institutions development and
alignment of systems and policies that are relevant for collective marketing, buying of farm inputs,advocacy, savings and credit.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate develop and review of training
manuals and farmer institutions capacity building materials.
• Coordinate the arrangements for farmer
institution capacity building initiatives.
• Coordinate and Link with key resource persons with technical skills and knowledge relevant for farmer institution development
• Document and disseminate farmer institution capacity building reports.
• Support EADEN and Farmer Institutions in
development of strategies
• Track progress of famer institutions development against the farmer institution development strategy.
• Conduct periodic impact assessment studies on farmer institutions and report on key lessons and areas for further action
• Identify potential funding institutions/bodies that can support farmer institutions
• Follow up, coordinate and consolidate the
reporting of EADEN's performance on capacity
building of farmer institutions
• Develop, implement, communicate and review policies, frameworks and guidelines for farmer institutions in line with set criteria.
• Support EADEN and farmer institutions in the
development of their operational plans for effective implementation of their respective strategies and plans Support Farmer institutions development and alignment of systems and policies that are relevant for collective marketing, buying of farm
inputs, advocacy, savings and credit
• Contribute to EADEN's fundraising & donor
relations
• Support farmer institutions' resource mobilization processes including linking them to other organizations for financing, advocacy and collective marketing
• Facilitating Farmer Institutions planning
processes
• Facilitating Farmer institutions' baselines, midterm reviews and evaluations
• Facilitating Farmer Institutions planning
processes
• Facilitating Farmer institutions' baselines, midterm reviews and evaluations
• Facilitate farmer institutions' strategic business plan reviews and development
• Over see relationship management and
development between EADEN and Farmer
Institutions including identification of strategic
areas for interventions
• Identification of potential research areas in
EADEN programs for possible research.
• Link EADEN supported farmer Institutions to
training institutions and other like minded
organisations for research and development
• Linking training institutions research and
innovations relevant for farmer institutions to
policy and advocacy teams for wider influencing and up scaling
• Initiate and strengthen relationships between EADEN and like minded organizations for farmer institution development
• Liaise with EADEN finance team in monitoring and support to farmer institutions finance management and compliance
• Work with Area Managers and Executive Director to develop and operationalise a clear mechanism that utilises the available internal competences optimally for farmer groups and institutions capacity building support
• Work with EADEN staff to strengthen their role in farmer institution relationship management and capacity building support
• Identify Farmer groups and institutions capacity building areas that require joint training
• Develop TOR & organize trainings for farmer
institutions in areas identified in the Capacity
Building plans

Requirement: Minimum Qualifications
• Degree in Social sciences, development studies or agriculture
• 3 years working experience in capacity building of community based organisations using participatory methods
• 2 years management experience
• 3 years experience in managing donor funded projects
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel and Outlook
