Manager, Procurement

Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following vacancy for the Procurement Unit in the Operations Department

Manager, Procurement (1 position)

Main purpose of the job: This is a managerial position (SBG 12), reporting to the Head of Operations. The role provides strategic input contributing to the values and objectives, and vision of the Bank by leading all activities to ensure fulfilment of commitments made throughout the supply chain management services (procurement) so as to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, initiative and cost containment.

Key accountabilities
Implement the Bank’s procurement system, policies and procedures, and initiate reviews where necessary, taking advantage of applicable world-class supply chain management concepts and keeping a high level of integrity in the procurement function
Manage the evaluation, relationship and selection of suppliers in a professional and selfless manner
Execute the sourcing of goods and services through a supply chain management process that maximises value, provides excellent customer service and exceeds total cost of ownership (TCO) targets
Manage negotiations for service level agreements and lease agreements, and ensure timely renewal of service contracts
Manage the tendering process and secretariat for the Tender Committee
Maintain the records of Capex items, including monthly reports to the Center
Manage the asset disposal process
Maintain an up-to-date database of suppliers.
Monitor user-satisfaction.
Coordinate and participate in cross-function teams, negotiation teams and departmental committees.
Observe specified security policies, physical security, access control and systems control.
Requirement:

Qualifications/knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in Management Sciences.
A degree or diploma in Materials Management/ Supply Chain Management.
Diploma in Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS)
Computer literacy, negotiation skills, SAP knowledge and e-Procurement software
Understanding and hands-on experience of working with supply chain management operational concepts surrounding purchasing, logistics, incoming supply inspection and inventory control.

Experience:
3 years in a procurement and supply chain management environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet is a must

A strategic thinker who understands the business and is able to have an end to end perspective; hence be proactive and keenly put the banks interests first
A strong self confident character with ability to stand on his/her own 2 feet, able to push back, direct and have the right level of conversations and provide thought leadership (best practice) for the committee and suppliers.
