The Infectious Diseases Institute is engaged in working with the Ministry of Health and several districts in Uganda in strengthening health systems for improved delivery of HIV/AIDS and TB services. As an extension of this work IDI and its partners are considering using the same approach to strengthen health systems Maternal and Child Health services in two rural districts in Western Uganda. We are therefore looking for experienced, committed, and hardworking individuals prepared to work for a fixed one year contract in the health centers III and Health center IV and District hospitals under the guidance of the District Health team. It is anticipated that the contracts will be from November 2011 to October 2012.

IDI is seeking to recruit for the following positions as follows.

Medical Officer (8)
The Medical officers will work with and in many cases provide leadership to the teams in Health facilities offering MCH services.

Responsibilities:
Work with facility team in offering quality MCH services in accordance with MoH policies and procedures.
Offer Emergency Obstetric services including Cesarean sections operations.
Participate in QA/QC. Ensure the capacity of Health Workers in supported facilities is built through appropriate Continuous Professional Development sessions and Mentorship programme.
Any others responsibilities assigned by management in project scope of work.

Requirement:
Essential requirements:
Bachelors degree in medicine and Surgery
Completion of Internship with demonstrated proficiency in common obstetric emergencies
Registration with the Uganda Medical Dental Practitioners Council
Training in MCH/RH, EMOC preferred
Excellent organizational skills and flexibility, including the ability to manage and move between multiple sites
Salary: - USD/month
