REDD Senior Project Officer

Job Description
Wildlife Conservation Society is seeking to fill a position of a REDD Senior Project Officer who will work with farmers in the Masindi-Hoima-Kibaale-Kyenjojo region of Uganda to explore options for REDD financing to conserve tropical forest.

A specific requirement to complete the REDD Project Design Document is to work to obtain Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) from the project affected people participating in the Murchison-Semliki REDD+ project and to explain the business model that they could join in order to obtain REDD+ funding. He/she will work with a FPIC expert and will be involved in documenting the process. The desired qualifications for the position are a minimum of a bachelors degree from a reputable university, experience and ability to work with rural communities and local government, ability to speak the local languages from this region (particularly Lunyoro), basic computer skills (Word, Excel) and good communication skills.
