MTN Uganda is the leading telecommunications company in Uganda, providing payphones, fixed lines, fax/ data, Internet and mobile services. The comp my is currently expanding and is seeking to recruit a suitable, qualified person for the following position.

The position reports to the General Manager Business Risk Management.
The main purpose of the job is to implement and monitor the proactive and reactive Fraud Risk Management (FRM) framework across MTN Uganda.

The prime responsibilities of this position are:
• To ensure that the FRM framework is kept in line with global best practices.
• To drive the implementation of the FRM framework across the company.
• To execute the forensic functional strategy of fraud prevention and detection.
Proactive FRM
• Keep the Fraud Risk Register up to date with telecom fraud risks and recommended controls.
• Send regular Risk Alerts for new and topical fraud issues.
• Assess, test and report on the top fraud risks.
• Run fraud awareness programmes across the company.

• Ensure that control related findings from investigations are followed up for resolution.

Reactive FRM
• Ensure that the whistleblower function operates effectively and is well published to staff.
• Ensure that the FRM mandate to manage all fraud incidents is accepted across the company and that all instances of fraud are being reported to BRM.
• Ensure that independence requirements are adhered to in relation to high-level investigations.
• Perform certain high level investigations.

General FRM tasks


• Ensure that a culture of zero-tolerance is maintained across the company.
• Provide FRM training to new resources.
• Compile reports to various stakeholders including GM BRM, the Executive Management, and ARC board.
• Liaise with other assurance functions like internal/external audits and revenue assurance as and when required, especially in the identification of fraud or control weaknesses.
• Perform the task of an expert witness in disciplinary and criminal/civil matters.

Supervisory/leadership/managerial tasks
• Provide varying levels of support to other BRM functions.
• Maintain staff performance and morale.
• Assist staff in achieving optimal performance.


Job requirement

The applicant must possess a Bachelor of Commerce or Law. Professional qualification and association in ACCA or CPA and CFE is a must. He or she should have a minimum of five years experience in a business environment, and two years of forensic experience in a management role.
Previous experience in the following will be an added advantage: audit and investigations in a reputable firm, criminal and civil litigation, and technical fraud investigations.
In addition, he or she must have excellent oral and written communication skills, project management skills, analytical and statistical skills, report writing skills, the ability to communicate at all levels, presentation skills, be customer focused, uphold confidentiality and integrity and work well in a team.
