Abt
Associates Inc. is managing a large program to support Indoor Residual
Spraying (IRS) for Malaria in Uganda. The program provides technical and
Implementation assistance to the Ministry of Health and National
Malaria Control Program (NMCP) to support all aspects of the national
IRS program, targeting key districts across the country. Abt is seeking
assistance for this and prospect IRS efforts in the following
capacities:
2. IRS Advisor/Entomologist (based in Gulu):
• Advise and ensure that all IRS entomological and epidemiological monitoring/studies for the project-supported districts are planned, undertaken, documented and disseminated in a timely and effective manner
• Contribute to capacity building of national entomology staff of NMCP and promote sustainability of the routine entomological work related to IRS
• Develop guidelines and standard operating procedures where necessary, to assure quality and high scientific standards in the entomology work
• Build national and district capacity in malaria vectors characterization and surveillance of vector resistance

Job requirement
(Requirements:
Master degree in public health, medical entomology,
epidemiology or other relevant discipline. 8+ years of relevant
experience; ability to take initiative, make appropriate decisions and
manage research teams and local partners effectively; advanced
written/oral skills in English; knowledge of Acholi preferred)
