TechnoServe is implementing the STRYDE Program - Strengthening Rural Youth Development through Enterprise - in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda and the program shall be launched in October 2011. In Uganda, the four-year program will support 5,000 rural youth in the Central and Northern regions with the goal to increase their productive economic engagement. The following opportunities are available under the program in Uganda:
5. Project Assistant
Provide administrative and logistical support to the project and to facilitate efficient delivery of services. The Project Assistant will work closely with Mm Project Accountant to ensure financial reporting documentation is appropriate catalogued and organized.
Duties & Responsibilities
• On behalf of the Senior Business Manager, oversee program logistics, including vehicle usage, taxi requisitions, stationery and other purchases and supplies in accordance with TechnoServe procedures;
• Assist the project team with simple budgetary and accounting matters, including collecting timesheets, checking petty cash advances and reconciliations before they are submitted to the Project Accountant;
• Support the Project Accountant in ensuring financial documentation is RECORDED and organized;
• Procure and manage office supplies, training materials, phone credit and travel advances for staff, trainers, and others as appropriate;
• Provide administrative support for program satellite offices;
• Communicate and attend team meetings where he/she shall be taking minutes;
Job requirement
• Diploma or degree in social sciences or business-related discipline,
• Experience in data input and analysis, report writing, and communications.
• Basic experience in budget management or accounting will be an addod advantage;
• At least 1 year of experience in an administrative or assistant position;
• Computer literacy in MS Excel, Word and Power Point necessary;
• Ability to travel to remote rural locations in Uganda for project support, If necessary.
