Job Title: Risk Management and Compliance Officer
Scale: NMS4S
Reporting to: General Manager.
Location of the job: Entebbe
Purpose of the job.
The office bearer shall work with functional managers in establishing effective risk management in their areas of responsibility. The officer shall have the resources to effect enterprise risk management across departments, functions and activities of the corporation. He/She shall have the responsibility for monitoring progress and assisting managers in reporting relevant risk information up, down and across NMS.
Key Accountabilities/ Key Result Areas;
1) Establishing enterprise risk management policies including defining roles and responsibilities and participating in setting goals for implementation
2) Framing accountability and authority for enterprise risk management in functional units
3) Promoting an enterprise risk management competence through out the organization, including facilitating development of technical enterprise risk management expertise and helping managers align risk responses with NMS risk tolerance.
4) Guiding integration of enterprise risk management with other business planning and management activities.
5) Establishing a common risk management language that includes common measures around likelihood and impact and common risk categories.
6) Overseeing development of NMS business specific risk tolerances and working with managers to establish control activities and recommending corrective action where necessary
7) Facilitating managers in developing protocols, including quantitative and qualitative thresholds and monitoring and reporting process.
8) Reporting on progress and outliers and recommending actions as needed.

Job requirement

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An Honours degree in Commerce or Business Administration, or Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting, and a full professional qualification of ACCA, CPA, CIMA or an equivalent
Experience and Technical Skills:
• An understanding of corporate governance requirements
• Project planning and management skills
• Analytical and facilitation skills
• A healthy balance of risk rather than extreme risk taking or avoidance behaviors
• Risk transfer, quantification and modeling techniques
• At least two years relevant experience in risk management and or monitoring.
• Basic Information Technology skills
