Project Associate

Mpanga Growers Tea Factory Limited in partnership with Mountains of the Moon University under the technical advisory service of the British Council is implementing a two year Study project focusing on Restoring soil fertility and enhancing tea productivity in the Rwenzori region of Uganda. The purpose of the project is to develop guidelines for the optimised application of inorganic fertilizers according to soil type, clone variety and age of plant across the Mpanga growing area with a goal to stimulate innovation through a knowledge-transfer partnership for increasing the productivity of tea cropping systems through grower extension advice, improved and locally adapted soil fertility technologies for small-scale farmers with better added value products in order to raise their income and well being. The Company seeks to recruit a qualified and competent Project Associate well versed in soil research to provide the day to day technical support to the project operations and to perform other project implementation roles as will be assigned by the company.



Requirement:
Education:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture (Soil Science Option), or BSc Agricultural Land use and Management from a recognised University
Masters of Science in soil Science or Natural resource management will be an added advantage
Should be able to analyse data using any of the statistical packages such as Genstat, ST ATA, SPSS AND EXCEL
Experience:

Minimum of three years experience in soil science research related activities
Extensive field experience in integrated soil fertility management
