International Lifeline Projects

Lifeline is providing lasting solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the developing world today:
- Water & Sanitation – assisting rural villagers in Northern Uganda to rebuild after years of war by providing communities with reliable and affordable sources of clean drink ing water and vital health & sanitation training--the most fundamental building blocks for vulnerable persons seeking to lift themselves out of poverty.
- Fuel Efficient Technologies – providing innovative solutions to curb deforestation and global warming while providing a lifeline to tens of thousands of displaced families through stove programs that: (1) save families significant time and money in the collection of wood; and (2) mitigate the deadly effects of indoor air pollution caused by the smoke from openfires.
- Stove Commercialization & Local Micro-enterprise - Employing and training local arti sans in Northern Uganda to manufacture a cost-effective commercial stove, which
empowers local women to manage and run their own small store fronts while, at the same time, brings fuel saving stoves to needy families through the efficient
mechanism of the open market.

Responsibilities

- Day to day management of Environment team staff, assignment of roles and execution of production and distribution activities
- Leading assessments of new areas for distribution and marketing of the improved stove model
- Linking and liaising with partners institutions, groups and individuals for the development of the commercial stove program
- Assisting in the design and development of a commercial stove marketing and business plan, including possible loan/micro finance models
- Leading the community mobilization process for engagements with beneficiary communities
- Facilitating direct community trainings for humanitarian stove distributions as well as Training of Trainers (ToT) for partner agencies in key aspects of the improved stoves design, purpose operation and maintenance.
- Maintaining up-to-date records of all stove distributions, stove sales or other record keeping relating to the dissemination of the improved stove
- Ensure regular and appropriate monitoring is carried out production, distribution and commercial stove activities
- Providing detailed monthly reports to the Program Coordinator on activities completed and outcomes achieved
- Providing budget estimates and planning for relevant program purchases
- Providing accountability for program purchases in the form of invoices, receipts and agreements
- Providing oversight for stove production activities at the ILF stove factory
- Providing oversight for seedling production/distribution and tree planting components of the environment program
- Assisting in the design and direction of the ILF environment program in Uganda
- Liaise and coordinate with district environment/natural resource authorities and local and international NGO’s on matters of mutual interest

Reports to: Program Coordinator and Deputy Director

Required Qualification:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Management or in business administration or in development or in a related field
- At least 2 two years of international development experience in project management
- Ability to design and implement programs
- Experience in staff management
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent understanding of local culture
- Works with trustworthiness and integrity and has a clear commitment to ILF core values and humanitarian principles
- Ability to deal and interact with local authorities and NGO community
- Work and live with a flexible, adaptable and resilient manner
- Have experience and the ability to work in diverse cultural contexts in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Ability to work as a team player who demonstrates leadership and is able to support and train local staff
